One of London's first hardcore rap groups, Gunshot came out of the East End in 1989, formed around the talents of MC Alkaline, MC Mercury, Barry Blue, and DJ White Child Rix. Early singles like "Battle Street Brawl" (for Vinyl Solution) sold surprisingly well, and their debut album, Patriot Games, appeared in 1993. A U.K. chart placement for the album and a tour of Europe cemented their status as the leading British hardcore act. Gunshot moved to the Bristol-based Words of Warning label, and earned the highest critical praise of their career in 1997 for Twilights Last Gleaming. Three years followed before the release of their third full-length, International Rescue. ~ John Bush, Rovi
