Blueprint (born Albert Shepard) is an American indie hip hop artist from Columbus, Ohio. He is a founder of Weightless Recordings. He is currently signed to Rhymesayers Entertainment and his tour booking is handled by Deep Thinka Records.
Blueprint is one half of the duo Soul Position along with producer RJD2. He is also a member of the rap group Greenhouse Effect, which currently consists of himself and Illogic.
Blueprint first gained minor underground attention as a member of the crew Greenhouse Effect. He then reached a wider audience when he appeared on the track "Final Frontier" from RJD2's debut album Deadringer in 2002. Since then, he has released one EP and two albums with RJD2 as Soul Position, as well as several solo albums on Rhymesayers Entertainment, including 1988 and Adventures in Counter-Culture.
Blueprint is known for his distinctive voice and story-telling ability. His albums usually focus upon a range of subjects and include many different styles of music, rather than focusing on one level throughout. He is also a skilled freestyler. In 2000, he came in second place in the Scribble Jam freestyle competition. Blueprint is very appreciative of fans; a 2004 Fort Collins show had a very low turnout because the promoter had the wrong date on the flyers. Blueprint chose to get down from the stage, and perform the entire concert with all 50 or so fans encircling him on the floor.
