Singaporean Mandopop singer Kaira Gong experienced a brief run of success in Taiwan in 2005-2006 with her theme song for the television show Reaching for the Stars. Born in Singapore on July 25, 1981, she studied at the National University of Singapore before entering show business in association with the label HIM International Music. She made her recording debut in 2005 with "To Have It Once Again," the theme song from the Taiwanese drama Reaching for the Stars starring HIM labelmates Selina Ren, Hebe Tian, and Ella Chen of the Mandopop group S.H.E. The song proved popular in Taiwan and was followed by Gong's full-length album debut, Kaira (2005).
