About Giuseppe Giordani

A contemporary of Zingarelli and Cimarosa Giuseppe was also a student at the Conservatorio Maria di Loreto in Naples. He was a student of Fenaroli. "L'astuto in imbroglio" appears to have been his first opera; it was composed for Pisa. From 1779 until 1793 Giordani is known to have composed approximately thirty works for the stage some of which were performed in Florence, Naples, Rome and Bergamo. Seven years before his death he became the master of the chapel at Fermo Cathedral. Although the popular song "Caro mio ben" was attributed to Tommaso, it was probably composed by Giuseppe. ~ Keith Johnson, Rovi
