Hailing from Sunderland, England, indie/art rock trio Field Music consist of siblings Peter and David Brewis as well as founder/director Andrew Moore (who departed after the recording of Tones of Town). Their colorful blend of Beach Boys melodies filtered through a post-rock aesthetic has drawn comparisons to the New Pornographers and the Futureheads. Drummer Peter Brewis was a founding member. Their self-titled debut was released in 2005 on Memphis Industries Records, followed by Write Your Own History in 2006 and Tones of Town in 2007. After putting Field Music on hiatus and starting new bands (School of Language for David, the Week That Was for Peter). The brothers released a new album, Field Music (Measure), in early 2010. 2012's Plumb, the band's fourth full-length outing, crammed 15 tightly wound, cleverly arranged and impossible-to-ignore pop gems into just 35 minutes; the brothers also formed a touring edition of Field Music with Kev Dosdale and Ian Black. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
