'Everyone's An Addict' is an album written and produced by London based singer/songwriter Jonathan Hoban.
Feeling disheartened by the music industry, Jonathan took it upon himself to write and produce his own album. Now being managed by Ronan O'Rahilly (Founder of Radio Caroline), recording began in Brittania Row Recording Studios during 2007, with Liam Genockey (Drums), Winston Blissett (Bass), and Sean Genockey (Recording Engineer/Producer). Inspired by the recording techniques of the early 1950's - 1970's Jonathan decided to incorporate as much of these techniques as possible into his record. This included not joining the [volume war'] that the music industry now currently faces.
"I became fascinated by the early mixing techniques used during the 1950 -1970's. I think these early recording techniques just create such a wonderfully intimate, and exciting record. There seemed to be so much more experimentation and flexibility in early mixing and recording techniques, and far more attention to the quality of performance and arrangement of parts in each record. Every record seemed to be more concerned with capturing the emotion of the performance, rather than dwelling on the perfectionism of how each instrument was recorded. I truly believe this is what created such a wide spectrum of unique and exciting sounding bands during this era. And I wanted the same flexibility when approaching and recording my own album. Apart from anything else it's just so much more fun, and after all isn't that what it's all about".
Jonathan recorded the rest of his album from his home over the course of the next 3 years, playing the remainder of the instruments himself. He also later mixed and mastered the album 'Everyone's An Addict'. Other musicians on the record include Andy Wallace (Hammond), Elliot Mortimer (Hammond) and Ashley Soan (Drums). 'Everyone's An Addict' was released on October 20th, and is now available on Itunes, Spotify, Soundcloud and Bandcamp.
