She is best known for playing Dawn Denbo on the Showtime American lesbian drama, The L Word. Keener was born in Miami, Florida. Her father is of Irish descent and her mother is of Lebanese descent. Keener is the younger sister of actress Catherine Keener. The L Word edit: Keener joined The L Word during Season 5 as entrepreneur Dawn Denbo (AKA Double D), who started a rival lesbian bar with her lover Cindi (played by Alicia Leigh Willis) having both recently moved to LA from Miami to open a lesbian club, called SheBar.
