About Eirik Lie
Norwegian composer, guitarist, and keyboard artist Eirik Lie writes much of his music for theatre productions and art exhibitions, so his compositions stimulate visions of physical spaces, dramatic action, processions, and inner musings.
Lie has an extensive background composing and performing for jazz, rock, and blues groups, including Bodega Band (Norway's best student big band), Noboens Rockeband (two albums recorded in 1976 and 1977), ELVerket (a funk/fusion band), Milborg Blues Band, and Baeverfjords Bataljon (a six-piece blues-rock band). While with the students' theatre group Studentenes Interne Teater, Lie was composer and orchestra leader for a number of operas and musicals. He was co-founder and composer for the DetLille Musikkteater, composed the music for Too Many Guns, Too Few Brains, was composer for the prize-winning Petrusjka Teater, and the Dutch Theatre Clown Lexis, Teater Visuell. He has written a number of scores for video and short films, and specializes in music and lighting design for multimedia installations, such as the Trondelag Folkemuseum ski museum and the 112 Par Sko, a 100-year memorial to the hundred people who lost their lives in a landslide in Verdal.
Lie's first album, 12 Bilder, collects 12 musical images from several of his shows and installations. ~ Carol Wright, Rovi
