DJ Brownie & Paul Grogan, both UK transplants, met in an underground rave in Los Angeles in 1991. Brownie a budding DJ and Paul a wanna be record producer, became instant friends and over the course of the next two years, along with DJ Doran, formed Rampant Records the label which would propel them all to the forefront of the 90's underground music scene.
Through their label, Paul & Brownie have had multiple releases under the monikers, Immigrant, The Coffee Boys, DJ Brownie, Mr Funkster and Gorilla Pimp.
Their funky breakbeat sound quickly exploded and took dance floors worldwide by storm, and before they knew it demand was high for Brownie's rocket fueled DJ sets and the duo's spaced out breakbeat vinyl releases. While Brownie was playing at underground parties all over the States, Paul was hard at work in the studio knocking out underground bangers on Rampant that were ripping up dancefloors worldwide. The duo are widely recognized as the pioneers of what was to become known as "West Coast Funky Breaks" sound. They went on to release over 40 vinyl EP titles over the course of Rampant's reign.
More recently the pair have both hung up their headphones and now produce Electronic Dance Music in all styles for TV , film and commercials.
