Detroit, is a young smooth Hip Hop/R&B vocalist definitely making his presence known in the music industry today. Detroit comes from a highly notarized musical family out of New Orleans, LA. In fact, Detroit’s father, Detroit Sr., is the lead guitarist for New Orleans music legends Irma Thomas, and Charmaine Neville and has accompanied other greats such as Wynton Marsalis, Grammy award winner Allen Toussaint, and Donald Harrison and is often seen on the HBO hit series Treme’. Paving his own path while growing up in the 9th Ward section of New Orleans, Detroit began showcasing his talent as a member of his church choir and performing in local talent shows. Detroit’s unique style can be best described as smooth but…street, gentlemanly…but gangsta! He has a way of capturing you and pulling you into his world. His genuine sound pushes him way past the pack! In 2008, Detroit created a major buzz when he was featured on a track with recording artist C-Murder entitled, “Be Fresh” which was released on Asylum Records. The single received heavy airplay throughout the south and inter-net satellite radio creating a huge fan-base. Detroit also recorded “Chasity” and many more with his first cousin well re-known rapper Mr. Magic. That only sparked the flame for him to move on to writing and producing his own material. In July 2009, Detroit released his first solo CD entitled “Doin’ Me”. Two singles entitled, “Wish the Best for You” and “Do You” were released off the project and both singles were played in six (6) different markets and even hit the Top 8 Countdowns on mix shows! Detroit’s CD Release Party was held at the New Orleans House of Blues, featuring a live performance by Atlantic Recording artist Pleasure P. In 2010, while doing shows on the road, Detroit reunited with old friend, Gudda Gudda of Young Money Entertainment. They went into the studio and collaborated “In The Club”. This single picked up heavy airplay throughout the southern region. The hi-tempo groove has an infectious melody and equally banging track that invites listeners to get up and move! In 2011, Detroit dropped a new track titled “What It Do” off his latest digital release “Nite Life Da Mix Tape”, which was released on New Years Eve free to all fans. The video for “What It Do” is currently on YouTube and has received 5 stars! Detroit is soon to release his new single “Body Go Bop”! This is definitely going to be a Billboard hit! There is no stopping him on this catchy groove…just Bop with it! All I can say is…CHECK IT OUT! To date, Detroit has done numerous shows and has opened for such greats as Anthony Hamilton, Carl Thomas, Bobby Vaelntino, Pleasure P, The Dream, Monica, Slim of 112 and Lil Wayne’s Young Money Camp. Detroit has performed around the world but regularly performs locally throughout the south and also has performed at the 2009 & 2010 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
