Singer-songwriter CJ Tate was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. Tate discovered a natural love for music at three years of age and his enthusiasm for singing and instrumentation evolved into a passion for production and songwriting. The singer loves his hometown and is proud to be connected to a city with such deep musical roots. This sense of community also translates to the relationship he has created with his fans. While mentored by some of the most innovative minds in the music industry such as Troy Taylor (produced and written for artists such as Whitney Houston, The Isley Brothers, Trey Songz)…Tate’s first single “Send Her On to Me,” has generated 150,000+ YouTube views and collectively 50,000+ downloads across major digital providers. These downloads were undoubtedly fueled by his online presence he has garnered from fans around the world. “Send Her On to Me” has received airtime on popular radio stations in both the US and UK markets. CJ Tate continues to hone his musical talents in the industry. Tate has graced many stages across the country including the Rising Stars showcase at Minglewood Hall in Memphis, opening for Wu Tang Clan at L.A.’s The Airliner, a showcase at Atlanta’s Club Life during the A3C Hip Hop Festival, CellularSouth’s Emerge artist platform, a slot in the Memphis Music Foundation/Heal the Hood Community Concert, an artist showcase in L.A. for Interscope Records, and most recently opening for Future at CIAA’s Basketball Tournament. Between recording, dancing, acting and touring, CJ Tate, is making all the right moves to cover all bases of the entertainment business. He is currently recording for his EP that is projected for release in 2013.
