Christopher Chrishan Dotson was born on October 21, 1989, in Toledo, Ohio. At an early age, Chrishan exhibited an interest in music, along with the guidance of his father, Chris, also a musician notably of the R&B singing group, 'The Dotsons,' which included his cousin, Lyfe Jennings.
Raised by a single father, and growing up in Toledo's infamous Northside, Chrishan's father kept him out of trouble by enrolling him in private schools, and schools in the Ottawa Hills district; all of which Chrishan subsequently was expelled from, for fighting.
At age 10, Chrishan's father moved him to Minneapolis, Minnesota to pursue music. Here, Chrishan was introduced to acts such as Mint Condition, Prince and more. Soon after Chrishan began writing & producing his own music, inspired by the sounds of Prince, The Time & Andre Cymone.
After dropping out of Minnetonka High School his junior year, Chrishan was accepted into the High School For Recording Arts. The school, founded by former Paisley Park rapper TC Ellis, became a haven to Chrishan and he eventually went on to graduate early with honors.
In the summer after graduating high school, Chrishan released his first single "2 Late 4 Us." The single, initially leaked online as a promo, went on to sell 4500 units the first week, a feat unprecedented for an unknown, independent artist. Shortly after, Chrishan was discovered by current business manager, Delmar Powell (Universal).
Since then Chrishan has released 2 independent albums, and has signed multiple licensing deals with MTV, VH1, Space Shower TV Japan and many more. He has written & produced records for Kid Ink, Kevin McCall, OMG Girlz, T. Mills, LeToya Luckett and more.
