Charles Pettigrew (12 May 1963 - 6 April 2001) was an American singer.
Previously, Pettigrew had lived in Boston where he was lead singer of the band Down Avenue. Down Avenue was the winner of radio station WBCN's 1985 Rock 'n Roll Rumble, he was also probably best known as half of R&B duo Charles and Eddie, who had a worldwide hit in 1992 with "Would I Lie To You?." The track is amongst the most well-recognised of early '90s r'n'b tracks, Pettigrew met singing partner Eddie Chacon in New York.
Later life and death:
In the late nineties Pettigrew was diagnosed with cancer; he succumbed to the disease on April 6, 2001 at the age of 37.
