Education and career:
After attending many schools, Carty finally graduated from Largo High School in Prince George's County, MD. In 2000, while still a sixteen-year old high school student, Carty-Yeah joined up with MO C.H.I.P.S., Concept and A-Dash-Be-EZ as a member of D.C.'s own popular underground hip-hop triumverate, the Rhat Pack. In 2001 Carty-yeah competed in Baltimore's 92Q Jams Cyphas; after winning 12 straight-weeks in a row, the radio station retired the seventeen-year old rapper as 'Cypha Champ'. In 2002 Carty-Yeah won the Nas One Mic Competition. That same year, started battling for "Mic Champ" title for Washington, D.C.'s WPGC 95.5 Friday Night Mic Fights, holding it for several weeks at a time. In 2005, 93.9 WKYS became the second radio station to retire Carty-Yeah as the Champ after the young star won every battle for seven months straight. Carty-Yeah took a year off after the WKYS battles; in 2007 he was back on his grind, working on transitioning his battle-rap style into songs. In February, 2008, he released a CD Sampler titled "Smokin On My Black", hosted by DJ Xclusive and Billy Blass of Vintage Beats. The sampler featured the song "Black and Mild". The song instantly found success on both 93.9 WKYS and 95.5 WPGC."Couple Dollas", a smooth rap serenade to a stripper, was the second single on the CD and is almost at the same point of cult status as "Black N Mild". In April 2008, Carty-Yeah released a remix version of "Black N Mild" with D.C. go-go band New Impressions. All three songs have been featured on mix-tapes by DJ Whoo Kid & 40 Glocc, DJ Kash Monee, DJ Heat, DJ Twizt, Raw & Uncut Radio's World Wide Connection and a host of others. Featured in the February 09 issue of Ozone Magazine and picked by MTV and Ourstage.com as one of the top 20 artist in Washington, D.C., he consistently releases material for the fans Via Online with a strong following.
