An air of mystery and mystique surrounds the careers of Harlemites Vast Aire and Vordul Mega. The duo released its acclaimed debut,The Cold Vein, in 2001 which remains one of the seminal works of the underground New York hip-hop scene. The Cold Vein, originally released on Def Jux Records, drew significant praise from critics and the underground community alike. On The Cold Vein, Vast and Vordul paint a dark, murky canvas of New York with brutally honest lyrics and clever wordplay, over gutter instrumentals from producer El-P. The album was widely considered to be a cult classic amongst hip-hop purists. In 2009, it was listed as #152 on Pitchfork’s “Top 200 Albums of the 2000s” list. Not surprisingly Pitchfork previously concluded, "The Cold Vein is going to be on everybody's year end list of the best underground hip-hop," and that it was, as the album received perfect ratings from publications such as Stylus Magazine and HipHopDX. After years of being out-of-print, Cannibal Ox has partnered with iHipHop Distribution to re-release The Cold Vein (Deluxe Edition). Additionally, the group is released Gotham (Deluxe LP Edition), which features three new tracks that had only previously been released as part of a vinyl maxi-single as well as 12 rare and unreleased Cannibal Ox tracks including tracks that had only previously been released on hard-to-find vinyl singles. Now after a headlining performance at the A3C Hip-Hop Festival and a recent New York City performance at Trademark Da Skydiver's album release party, Vast Aire and Vordul Mega are preparing their currently untitled sophomore album for a 2014 release date through IGC's partnership with iHipHop Distribution. To reinvigorate their brand and to galvanize their fan base prior to the release of their sophomore album, Cannibal Ox will soon formally announce The Cold Vein Tour with worldwide dates featuring their performance of the entire Cold Vein album.
