Authority is a hard rock band that was formed in Austin, Texas in 1997 around the song writing talents of guitarist Tony McMillin. The next task was finding a drummer in Canadian born Kelly James (ex-Cherry St./Psycho Magnets). The two musicians set out on a mission of recording a four song ep entitled Right to Remain with the hopes of finding the remaining two members to complete the line-up. Vocalist Buster Grant (ex-Blind Date/Snakedance) and guitarist J.B. Slimp (ex-Blind Date/Catch 22) were brought into the fold to finish up the tracks for the ep. The Right to Remain ep was released in 1998 on the Lamppost Music Label. Upon its release, the ep won the Pro-tape best new artist demo competition in Austin, Texas. Authority spent the next six months on the hunt for a permanent bass player that never showed up. Authority would then come to a temporary hault! Kelly James would then leave to Canadian soil while Buster Grant forms the San Antonio, Texas based Zadica. What happened to the guitarist? Well, he finds a bass player in Chris McMillan (ex-Down n Dirty). Authority would then briefly become Edan's Child and sets out on a six month quest to find a new drummer while writing new material, however the new drummer never arrives and Edan's Child is put to rest due to a train wreck. The next few years equal hiatus for all musicians involved. On April 21, 2008, Authority's Right to Remain ep is remastered and rereleased on the Division Core Label and this event sparks a firestorm of creativity within the guitarist. Authority is reborn with guitarist, new drummer Geoff West (ex-Theater, Rythme Chain) and a slew of new songs to record. Authority would then enter Lamppost Recording Studio and records six new tracks with vocalist Buster Grant and studio guitarist Taz Bangs (ex-Cherry St./Spinning Chain). Authority is currently in search of a new cast of characters to continue the saga which is Authority.
