What originally began as the solo project of Kilborough bassist/keyboardist Jon Glover from 2001 to 2005 was resurrected as a full-fledged band in Gainesville, FL circa 2008. With Paige Fowler on guitar and Glover on vocals, synth, guitar, and electronics, Ars Phoenix became a fixture of the Gainesville music scene from 2008 to 2011. After relocating to Vero Beach, FL, Ars Phoenix amicably lost Fowler and added Caitlin Ollinger on vocals, synth, and bamboo flute, and Mike Cruickshank on electric violin and synth.
The new lineup released a color-splatter 12" vinyl LP entitled Violent Rain on the Washington, DC label Etxe Records in January 2014. On Violent Rain, Ars Phoenix continues to develop its unique blend of post-punk, darkwave, shoegaze, synth pop, and indie electronics. To support the new album in 2014, the band will tour the mid-Atlantic in March and the nation as a whole in May/June.
