Growing up between Washington, D.C., and a farm in Georgia, Alice Smith spent much of her time listening to and singing many different genres of music, but it wasn't until her college years that she actually began to consider the possibility that her voice could be her career. Singing backup for a band at Fordham University, Smith was in the studio one day when the manager (and head of BBE Records in the U.S.) heard them perform. A record deal followed shortly and Smith released her impressive debut, For Lovers, Dreamers & Me, a mix of rock, soul, and R&B, in 2006. The same year, she appeared on "Haunted by Her Yesterdays," an atmospheric track by drum'n'bass producer Logistics. Smith's next release didn't come until July 2012, when she issued an EP, She, on the Rainwater label. ~ Marisa Brown, Rovi
