Instrumental combo Al Garcia and the Rhythm Kings emerged during the early 1960s from Los Angeles-based producer Tony Hilder's stable of acts, boasting a unique sound combining surf rock with Latin-influenced percussion. Although the Rhythm Kings didn't notch any hits of their own, they did tour billed as the Piltdown Men after that fictional studio group's "Brontosaurus Stomp" became a hit in 1960. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
