Toledo, OH-born artist and producer A.J. Crew is one of music’s most promising talents coming from the Chicago hip-hop scene. Miles Raymer of the Chicago Reader says, “Crew shows a lot of potential--he’s got a talent for punchlines and a way of mixing long lyrical flows...”
“The Reality Of It All”, Crew’s latest album, will be released via DJBooth.net & AJCrew.com on May 1st. The music video for “Nah Mean?”, featuring Naledge from Kidz In The Hall, has over 16,000 views. As fans anticipate his next music video release, Crew plans to distribute physical copies of the album across the Midwest.
Starting his career in 2009, A.J. has gone from collaborating with Grammy-Award winning songwriter Rhymefest to opening performances for the likes of Yelawolf, Kids These Days and 9th Wonder.
Michael Kolar, owner of Soundscape Studios, says Crew’s music has a “reminiscent vibe of something like De La Soul or something modern like Kid Cudi.” It’s apparent the rap game is definitely loving the Crew.
