“VINDICATION DAY” MARKS FIRST FULL LENGTH ALBUM FOR THE GROUP
NEW YORK – May 2012– Alternative electronic rock band Airmodular has released Vindication Day, its first full length album, to positive reviews both in the United States and abroad.
A collaboration led by writer/musician Cy Donovan, Airmodular draws from the post punk ethereal qualities of bands such as The Cure and The Cocteau Twins. Building upon their 2010 EP release of Resistance, this latest work continues the blend of progressive electronic craftsmanship with strong traditional guitar riffs and penetrating vocals that feature lead singer Sueyoung Yoo.
“This is an awe-inspiring collection that shows the maturation of the group, while still remaining true to the style that we’ve come to expect from Airmodular,” said Robert Segarra, of (Double Dragon/Dragon Heart Publishing). “There is a technical mastery that comes through in the music without compromising the strength and passion of Donovan’s message.”
Transcending today’s formulaic commercial gimmicks, Airmodular has much to say about our current culture and state of affairs. The song, Big Punk for example, is a release of the pent up anger over the increasing disconnect exemplified by the gluttonously powerful - the Tony Heywards, Bernie Madoffs and others. In that sense, it resurrects our traditional reaction toward alienation that can trace its roots to the origins of Rock & Roll.
In contrast, the song Miss Major is a more internal meditation. A voyage into the minds of the female guards at Abu Gharib, the song presents the dangers of the callous mishandling of power when it is thrust upon us.
“I wanted to remind people that there is still a whole lot of anger out there and it still deserves to be heard,” says Donovan. “This is not pop music in the contemporary sense of the word. There are powerful controllers of our society that are doing more damage now than ever before, and I’m calling them out.”
New York City based Airmodular will be announcing upcoming appearances and events through its social media network. For more information about Airmodular.
