Act As If

Peter Verdell started his career as an A&R rep for Drive-Thru Records during the pop-punk revolution of the early-mid 2000’s, an era which saw the label propel bands like Dashboard Confessional, Something Corporate, and New Found Glory to mainstream success. That valuable experience motivated Verdell to start recording his own music, and in May 2010 he released his debut LP, There’s a Light, under the name Act As If. Shortly after its release, songs from 'There’s a Light' were featured on TV shows spanning ABC, CBS, MTV, and IFC. The album was featured as “New & Noteworthy” by iTunes music and deemed “Fuseworthy” by Fuse TV. Additionally, Apple placed the song 'About Saying & Meaning Goodbye' in the promo video for their OS X Lion software.

Shortly after the release of 'There’s a Light', an official band lineup formed, consisting of Peter Verdell [vocals, guitar], Diego de la Rosa [drums], J. David Carrera [guitar], and Sara Lindsay [keys, vocals].

In September 2011, Act As If released a video for their melancholy cover of Blink 182’s 'Pathetic'. As the video quickly spread virally, it came to the attention of Mark Hoppus, lead singer of Blink 182 and host of Fuse TV's Hoppus on Music, who posted it on his personal Facebook page—resulting in massive overnight attention for the band.

In February 2012 Act As If released a 4-song EP entitled The Iron Is Hot. The EP has been featured on buzzworthy blogs including Kings of A&R and Kick Kick Snare, and the song 'Oh My My' has been receiving airplay on The World Famous KROQ FM's Locals Only program with DJ / taste-maker Kat Corbett.
